My other thought was to use odin to insert one of the other available early kernels that Chainfire provides but this is not described by you or him and I'm not sure what the results might be.

If you Root now you probably won't get the official ICS updat from Samsung in Kies, you shouldn't worry about that because you'll get a CWM recovery flashable version anyways so it's no reason to delay Rooting.

Still prowling looking for a solution. Flash normally Doesn't do anything specific. If this happens, they are usually only very minor changes and you should expect them to still be fully compatible.

A chineese friend of mine is selling it to me for USD. If you follow Chainfire's instructions you should be fine! If you do that and have more specific questions by all means ask them here and I will try to help obviously that is less efficient than making use of the massive community at XDA.
